Hungarian Apple Cake, or Almás Pite, is a beloved traditional Hungarian pastry made with tender, buttery dough and a generous layer of cinnamon-spiced grated apples. It is simple, comforting, and perfect alongside a cup of coffee or tea.
Unlike a deep American-style apple pie, Almás Pite is typically made with two thin layers of pastry and a fragrant apple filling in between. The result is a beautiful golden pastry with a soft, juicy apple center and a delicate dusting of powdered sugar.
