Hungarian Meatballs (Fasírt)

Hungarian Meatballs, known as Fasírt, are a beloved home-style dish in Hungarian cuisine. Crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful inside, these traditional meatballs are made with seasoned ground meat, bread, garlic, onion, and paprika. They are simple enough for a weeknight dinner yet comforting enough to serve at a family gathering.

What Is Hungarian Fasírt?

Fasírt is the Hungarian version of a classic meatball or meat patty. Unlike some meatballs that are simmered in sauce, Hungarian fasírt is traditionally shaped into small flattened balls or patties and fried until golden brown.

Hungarian paprika gives the mixture its characteristic color and mild, savory flavor, while garlic and marjoram add the distinctive seasoning associated with many Hungarian home-cooked dishes.
